Consumer Electronics Manufacturers Close the Door on 2004 With Sales of Approximately $100 Billion
Year-end holiday purchases help give CE a record year.
Branchburg, NJ (January 6, 2005) – According to the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), sales of consumer electronics (CE) goods such as laptop computers, digital televisions (DTV), digital cameras and camcorders are estimated to total over $100 billion for 2004. The estimate represents a 5% increase over 2003 expenditures, which reached approximately $96.3 billion. As consumers purchased expensive CE products, particularly during the holiday season, many overlooked important accessories which should have been purchased to help protect their investments for the long run.
“The consumer electronics market has experienced such incredible growth, as advanced technology has gone from being out of reach to being expensive but attainable,” said Ken Newman, Director of Marketing for Falcon. “Over the past few years, prices of items such as laptop computers, plasma and LCD screens have come down and along with other popular consumer electronics, led the way as gifts of choice for the 2004 holiday season. It is important that the consumers who have made such costly investments, are aware of how to properly maintain and protect their equipment,” concluded Newman.
Mobile electronics, such as laptop computers, have seen tremendous growth over the past few years, with dropping prices as well as the successful introduction of Wi-Fi technologies. Laptops have become so popular, that in 2005, industry analysts project that total laptop computer use will reach 60 million units in the United States alone, while worldwide, laptop use will be beyond 150 million.
Consumers that already own a laptop or plan to purchase one in the future, can turn to Falcon Safety Products and its Dust-Off® brand of consumer/personal electronics cleaning products, for cost-effective and reliable solutions for all of their cleaning needs. Dust-Off comprises an extensive line of cleaning products, including compressed-gas dusters, assorted cleaning wipes and a microfiber Screen Shammy, that together, provide the tools necessary for the effective preventative maintenance of any consumer electronics platform.
The Dust-Off Screen Shammy is the ideal solution for safely cleaning smudges, lint and dust from delicate monitors and screens, such as LCDs. Made from a suede-like microfiber material, the Screen Shammy can be washed over and over again for hundreds of uses. The Dust-Off Compressed-Gas Duster is also the essential accessory to accompany any CE purchase. The compressed-gas duster effectively blasts dust from any unwanted surface, especially from cooling vents, that quickly become clogged and corroded with dust and lint, which consequently can shorten the life of expensive electronic equipment as the proper airflow needed to cool down internal components is cut-off. The compressed-gas duster is also the ideal tool for keeping keyboards free of all corrosive particles including dust and food.
